The George of Stamford

The George of Stamford is a beautiful 16th century old coaching inn with log fires, oak panelled restaurant, a walled monastery garden, a cobbled courtyard decorated with hanging baskets - all in keeping with the style of Stamford.

The George succeeds in retaining the charm and atmosphere of its long history yet offers today's guest every modern comfort.

The Alc Restaurant offers both the highest standard of cuisine and service, the style is essentially traditional - the sirloin beef carved at your table is just one example - but utilises modern and international ideas. The Garden Lounge Restaurant is an alternative in the summer months - enjoy the picturesque courtyard. The internationally acclaimed wine list is not only to be admired but enjoyed at your leisure.

There are 47 individually designed bedrooms, a lounge for morning coffee and afternoon tea and two bars, The York Bar and The Cocktail Bar.

The hotel is both for business and pleasure, attached to the hotel is a conference centre incorporating all modern facilities.



Cancellation Policy

Please remember that when you confirm your accommodation booking you are entering into a legal contract.

If you alter your travel plans, please advise The Hotel immediately.

Your booking can be cancelled by mutual agreement, but if not, The Hotel is entitled to claim compensation if you fail to take up the accommodation.

Four rooms or fewer:

By 6.00pm the day prior to arrival date, after which time bookings will be subject to the full accommodation tariff being charged

Group Cancellation:

10% charge - if one or more rooms are cancelled between eight & five weeks prior to arrival date

25% charge - if one or more rooms are cancelled between four & three weeks prior to arrival date

50% charge - if one or more rooms are cancelled within two weeks prior to arrival date

100% charge - if one or more rooms are cancelled within two working days prior to arrival date
