An unusual and inspiring garden, set besides the Devil's Water. The garden contains over 600 species of medicinal plants, which are clearly labelled to show their traditional uses for maintaining and restoring health. The curator is Professor Elaine Perry, who directs medicinal plant research in Newcastle. Special garden features include: chamomile lawn, sage garden, culinary area, plant magic corner, heart and mind section, bamboo avenue and pond. There are a range of full and half-day courses which run through the season, including herbalism, cooking with herbs, homeopathy and Shamanic plants. We sell a small selection of herbs and herbal preparations. This is a wonderful garden in which to relax and learn about the healing power of medicinal herbs and an ideal setting for those who wish to draw, paint or photograph the plants. Groups are welcome and can book an introductory talk about plant medicine and sample a hand-picked herbal tea and home-made cake.
