The coastline around Ravenscar is a varied coastal area with natural history and industrial archaeology interest. The National Trust cares for a group of properties extending along the coast for 40 miles from Saltburn to Filey.
The Cleveland Way National Trail follows the clifftop and gives splendid views over a wide range of habitats for many forms of wildlife, from orchids to nesting birds. The area is also rich in industrial archaeology, especially alum works, and has an exciting exhibition and education centre at Robin Hood's Bay. There is an NT shop and local exhibition at Ravenscar.
