The multi award winning Thackray Museum is a fantastic day out, transporting you into a living experience of health and medicine, past, present and future.

You can take a walk down a back street of Victorian Leeds, and see hear and smell what life would have been like. Follow the life of a Victorian character in "Living Health" where you can explore the lives, ailments and treatments of eight Victorian characters - you make the choices that determine their survival, amongst the rats, fleas and bedbugs!

Learn how medicine has developed into modern practices - who made these discoveries and what inspired them? See the extensive collection of medical equipment including tools, replacement body parts, aids and the world's largest collection of English Apothecary Jars.

The second temporary exhibition looks at Meaning from Movement and is an exhibition all about how we love to learn. The exhibition highlights the work of the late Dr Geoffrey Waldon, a British neurologist who developed a distinctive theory that learning and development should be through the organising of patterns of movement in time and space. The exhibition aims to get you involved in ‘Waldon’ activities that are on display, and thinking about what you are doing and why you are doing it. There are no right or wrong answers to the activities; it’s not what you do, it’s the way that you do it! The activities will help you appreciate just how complex the process of ‘learning to learn’ actually is and how many of us simply take it for granted
