Lamport Hall was the home of the Isham family for over four centuries. During the time of the Commonwealth, the Hall was developed from a Tudor mansion and is now best known for its classical frontage, started in 1655 by John Webb and completed in the eighteenth century to the design of Francis Smith of Warwick. It is now a Grade 1 listed building.
The Hall contains a superb library and an outstanding collection of paintings, furniture and other antiques. Many items were collected during the Third Baronet's grand tour of Europe in the 1670s.
The Hall is set in tranquil gardens and parkland. Sir Charles Isham, the Tenth Baronet, is responsible for the present day appearance, including the rock garden where he introduced garden gnomes to England.
