The museum is situated in an old barracks originally built for the Loyal North Lincoln Militia in 1857. The museum contains large and significant collections covering all aspects of social history, including domestic community and commercial life, crafts, agriculture, industry and the collection belonging to the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment.
The museum offers a range of services which include a series of special events, temporary exhibitions, educational and holiday activity days, talks and quizzes.
The museum also has a Community Gallery feature, a programme of exhibits by member's of the local community a temporary exhibition gallery and an exciting special events programme throughout the summer season.
The museum also has a popular educational programme for visiting school children featuring a Victorian household, school room sessions and World War 2.
The Gatehouse Tearoom is open at the Museum to provide delicious refreshments and snacks. Entry to the tearoom is free except on Museum special event days.
