The Silk Mill - Derby's Museum of Industry and History is on the site of one of the first factories in this country. The Silk Mill was completed around 1723 and the re-built Mill now contains displays on local history and industry.

The Silk Mill - Derby's Museum of Industry and History is on the site of one of the first factories in this country, the Lombe brothers' Silk Mill completed around 1723. It is part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. It contains displays on local industries, including railways and Rolls-Royce aero engines. There is an area devoted to regularly-changing temporary exhibitions, and a programme of educational activities. We welcome schools to the museum, but all school visits must be booked in advance on 01332 716654.
