Lackford Lakes is 121 hectares of wetland, woodland, scrub and sandy heath created from former gravel pits, that lies beside the River Lark.
The visitor centre offers stunning views across the reserve and is an ideal place to start your visit. The list of birds here seems neverending, with rarities like hoopoe alongside more common species such as the shelduck. The reserve can provide a magical close encounter with nature, whether it be in the turquoise splash of a kingfisher, the splendour of a fishing Osprey or the sheer charm of a brood of new ducklings.
