The iconic Glastonbury Tor with its 15th Century Tower - but have you actually walked up this ancient and legendary hill?
Dramatic and evocative Tor dominates the Somerset Levels and offers spectacular views over Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire. At the summit an excavation has revealed the plans of 2 super imposed churches of St Michael of which only the 15thC tower remains.
The Tor is famous for it’s connections with King Arthur and New Age mysticism, as well as being close to another mystical site, Chalice Well – the walk up the Tor takes about 20 minutes or so. There is no car parking on site, but a special Tor bus runs from Glastonbury for most of the year. For more information please contact Glastonbury Tourist Information Centre.
