In 1982 the Sherborne Park Estate was bequeathed to the National Trust by Charles Dutton, Lord Sherborne. The property covers of over 1600ha (4000 acres) and is a fine example of a traditional Cotswold estate, with an estate village in the richly planted valley and higher, bleaker land to the south. Lodge Park is a unique example of a 17thC deer coursing park. It is an ornate stone building dating from 1635 which has been extensively restored providing views over the course and surrounding parkland.
