With its splendid, arcaded, Norman chancel arch, St Peter's was described by Pevsner as "one of the most interesting" Norman churches in Hampshire. Victorian restoration added a clerestory and other significant modifications and further modelling in 1999 enclosed the west end areas of the church with superb local craftsmen-made English oak screens to provide a charming Lady Chapel, lavatory and service facilities plus a meeting room. A Portland stone floor was laid and pews were replaced with oak chairs.
