Brooklands Museum in Weybridge is famous for recapturing the spirit of the birthplace of British motorsport and aviation. This site, created by local wealthy land owner Hugh Locke King in 1907, was the first purpose built motor racing course in the world and where pioneer aviator A.V. Roe made his first experiments in powered flight. It developed to become a wonder of the Edwardian age and one of the most exciting and ‘happening’ places of the 20s and 30s Jazz Age.

Brooklands embraced most of Great Britain’s automobile World Record Breaking success. In the air, the Vickers Vimy, Wellington Bomber, Hawker Hurricane and the iconic Concorde (now back on display at Brooklands) were all symbolic of the pioneering effort that pervaded these few Surrey acres. Brooklands Museum tells the full story with genuine artefacts and memorabilia. It is open every day apart from a few days over Christmas.
