Described by Nikolaus Pevsner in 'The Buildings of England' as 'that prodigy of timber-framed houses' and, more recently, in the New York Times as 'the most handsome inn in the world', The Feathers Hotel is internationally recognised for its beautiful Jacobean architecture and medieval heritage.

Situated at the heart of the ancient market town of Ludlow, there are excellent craft and antique shops and a wealth of historic buildings, all within easy walking distance. Being so central, The Feathers Hotel has been for centuries an important meeting point for the local community and visitors enjoy its lively atmosphere particularly during the annual arts-dedicated Ludlow Festival, which takes place during the last week of June and the first week of July.

Accommodation

The Feathers Hotel has forty bedrooms including five luxury rooms, one with a jacuzzi bath, four four-poster rooms and two family rooms. All rooms are en-suite with both bath and shower, colour television with pay-per-view movie channels, hospitality tray and direct dial telephones.

Our friendly and attentive staff will greet you on your arrival, and will try to ensure that your stay is comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Food at the Feathers

The Feathers' much acclaimed Housman Restaurant enjoys a reputation for offering traditional and innovative, contemporary cooking using fresh, local produce. The Executive Head Chef explains that 'Cooking is at the heart of The Feathers Hotel and here, in the kitchen, we honour our heritage by using the best local ingredients possible. Excellence is our goal, and we aim to exceed your expectations with every meal'.

Comus Bar

The hotel's Comus Bar and lounges are open from mid-morning for tea, coffee and light meals. In the afternoon, guests and visitors can relax and enjoy a quintessentially British cream tea, with home-made cakes and scones. In the evening the Bar is a perfect place to enjoy a cocktail before dinner in the Housman Restaurant.

Functions and Weddings

The Feathers is an ideal venue for conferences, presentations, weddings, and other important functions. Being so renowned and centrally located, the hotel is an easy meeting place and offers the facilities required to support such occasions. For pure atmosphere, guests can relax in the magnificent James I lounge with its historic wooden over mantle and fine plaster ceiling.
