Visible for miles around, the beautiful soaring spire of St Peter and St Paul's leads the way to this magnificent church which is otherwise hidden by the cluster of cottages and shops that nestle around it. Of Norman origin, the church was enlarged and enhanced in the 15th century and from this century date the remarkable collection of mediaeval wall paintings, one of the most complete sets in Britain. Other interesting features include the font, thought to be of Saxon origin, and the pulpit made by Hepplewhite, the famous 18th century cabinet maker.
