Dating from the 12th century, St Nicholas' is noted for its ancient font, which possibly predates the church and may be of early Norman or Saxon origin. Crude carvings on the font depict Christ's descent from the Cross and the Last Supper, scenes rarely found on baptismal fonts. The figure of St Nicholas in episcopal robes is also depicted both on the font and in the stained glass which is to be found in the church.
