This magnificent early Norman church, with its slim Northumberland-type tower, is sited prominently on the hillside above the village. It was built between 1110 and 1130 by Herebertus, Chamberlain of Henry I and father of Archbishop William

This magnificent early Norman church, with its slim Northumberland-type tower, is sited prominently on the hillside above the village. It was built between 1110 and 1130 by Herebertus, Chamberlain of Henry I and father of Archbishop William of York. Restored by G.E. Street between 1870 and 1872 for Sir Tatton Sykes II, St Andrew's contains fine glass by Clayton and Bell. To the south of the church, evidence of a mediaeval manorial site can be seen.
