A daughter church within the Parish of Linton, St Peter's was built in 1841 to serve this typical Dales village whose population was greatly swelled by the flourishing local lead mining industry. An imposing example of Victorian Gothic Revival style, the church was paid for largely by public subscription and its completion brought an end to the tradition of villagers having to walk the ancient paths to Linton. Today the church is noted for its collection of hand-crafted kneelers.
