Built in 1869, this is one of a renowned group of churches commissioned by Sir Tatton Sykes, 5th Baronet. Designed by the famous Victorian architect George Edmund Street, the interior reveals much typical Gothic revival detail of the day and the church contains many fine stained-glass windows, including work by Clayton and Bell of London. A pattern of Sykes monogram letters decorates the ceiling and the stone wall surfaces reveal unusual horizontal chiselling.
