Swallow Barn is nestled within farmland with views of fells and open countryside, this former barn with our adjoining hay meadow is a great place for wildlife lovers.

Located in the Upper Eden Valley, it is ideally situated with easy access for walking and sightseeing in the Lake District, Yorkshire dales and Northern Pennines. the surrounding area offers a wide variety of activity and family tourist attractions. Close by is the market town of Kirkby Stephen, 5 miles, with a supermarket and shops selling local produce. There are also cafes, restaurants and several pubs where you can find a wide variety of food. Pub meals are also available in the nearby village of Brough Sowerby.

We are lucky to be located in a rural area where the farmers are sensitive to wildlife habitat. this means there is a rich source of flowers, birds and animals most of which can be observed from a chair on the raised decking outdoors or an armchair indoors. There are over 8 species of wild birds that come regularly to the feeders and lots of swallows nesting in and around the outbuilding, all within 12 metres of the cottage, so you have a grandstand view from the windows or decking.

Nearby are red squirrels but alas greys have also infiltrated their territory. The rabbits usually put on a good show, look out for hares, foxes, stoats and moles. The Roe deer are often seen in nearby fields. During the year there are more than 80 species of wild flowers on the side of the road so as the seasons change there is always something new to see in the access lane.

Ground floor, large, light and airy sitting room/dining area with electric fire and French windows leading to a raised decking area and patio with furniture. Fully fitted kitchen with electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, food mixer. Colour freeview digital TV, video and DVD player, CD/radio, selection of books, games, CDs, DVDs and videos. Spacious utility/wet room with walk-in shower, toilet and sink. Automatic washing machine and iron/ironing board. Suitable as a drying area for walking boots.

On the first floor, 2 bedrooms, 1 double and 1 twin, 1 travel cot available on request. Bathroom with bath, toilet and wash basin.

All linen provided. All electricty and fuel included in rent. private off-road parking for 2 or more cars. Time of arrival 15.00 onwards, please vacate cottage by 10.00.
