A monthly talks programme covering topics on art, history, archaeology and science also takes place.

Sir Alfred East R.A., PRBA (1844 - 1913) was born in Lower Street, Kettering. Described as one of England's greatest living landscape painters, he offered a selection of his works to the people of Kettering in 1910, on condition that a gallery be built to house them. On 31st July 1913 the Alfred East Art Gallery was opened.

Today, the gallery exhibits works from its wide collection of East paintings alongside other famous local artists including Thomas Cooper Gotch (1854-1931) as well as the work of contemporary artists, photographers and sculptors.
