Imagine stepping back in time to a Victorian Manchester, not the city of commerce and corporate splendour but a hidden city of gas lamps and narrow alleys, of slums and unruly alehouses. Now imagine a busy police station in the heart of that city from where police officers arrested criminals and upheld the law.

Greater Manchester Police Museum was opened in 1981 in the orginal Victorian Station and tells the tale of the development of policing from the Robert Peel and the 'Peelers' to modern day. There is a restored charge office, cell area and a reconstructed Magistrates Court from Denton. The galleries display a range of memorablia from uniforms and equipment to photographs, vehicles and policing around the world'.
