Aisles were added early in the 15th century and the west tower and lantern, designed to guide travellers through the Forest of Galtres to the City of York, also belong to this period. Home of the seven Guilds of York and the Regimental Church of the Royal Dragoon Guards, this fine mediaeval church is featured in Simon Jenkins' book, 'England's Thousand Best Churches'.
