A privately owned independent company situated in the courtyard of one of the finest stately homes in the country ... Ripley Castle.
Tucked away in the heart of the ancient village, we are not easy to find...but drive or stroll down the cobbles, past the church, turn right through the white gates and we are on the right.
Established in 1983 and acknowledged throughout the country as one of the originators of the 'Farm Shop' format.
The proprietors, Mervyn and Catherine together, with their daughter Helen, strive and hopefully succeed in providing that old fashioned courtesy, quality and service now sadly a long forgotten memory in many places.
All this plus the picturesque setting of Ripley what more could you possibly want....
The delicatessen counter is well known throughout the area for its mouth-watering selection of goodies.
Pies, pates, pastries, olives, salamis, Cumberland sausage, dry cured bacons and roast ham.
Many of our items are hand-made in our own kitchen on the premises. Have you tried our famous treacle tarts or our smoked trout pate?
We also have an excellent selection of locally smoked products, trout, chicken and salmon. We are stockists of Macsweens haggis, both traditional and vegetarian.
Our shelves are always well stocked with pickles, preserves, marmalades, honey and mustards and meat jellies from all over the country.
If you are looking for something a little bit different or unusual, why not bring a friend and have a browse around.
One of the largest selections of English & Continental bottled beers in the country.
Belgian trappist beer, French country beers, smoked beer, fruit beers and many more.
A huge selection of top quality English bottled beers are also stocked with a wide range being sourced from local breweries. Ripley Castle Crackshot ale and Old Legover ale being the most popular at the moment. We also have a large range of quality basket ware on sale at all times.
Gift hampers are available throughout the year with a 'while you wait' gift-wrapping service.
We are situated in the middle of one of the most picturesque parts of the country and are truly at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. Within easy reach of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the Nidderdale Way.
There are many walks beginning and ending in Ripley, from a short stroll to a more strenuous hike.
We have a map showing all the walks in and around Ripley, why not call in and pick up a copy.
We have all the ingredients to make up a superb picnic from freshly baked bread to a nice bottle of chilled wine.
There is a lovely sheltered courtyard right outside the shop. Tables are provided for customers to sit and enjoy an al fresco meal and watch the world go by or if you prefer call in and make up a picnic and disappear into the Dales for a nice relaxing day away from it all.
