A museum dedicated to both showing and telling the story of mineral minimg past of the North Pennines. Prepare to launch on a voyage of discovery at Nenthead Mines, learning more about the people, places, tools, lifestyle and legacy of the mining industry that at one time completely dominated the local landscape.

Come and experience an underground tour in Carrs Mine, the only mine in the North Pennines that takes visitors into authentic real-life mine workings. Control the power of water and wonder at the simple logic of the machines they power. Look down a 328ft deep shaft if you dare! All this plus exhibitions and the 200-acre site make Nenthead the best day out in the North Pennines.
