The Fold at New House Farm, Bransford, midway between Malvern and Worcester on the A4103 Hereford Road, is a refurbished barn and other converted farm buildings. The refurbishment demonstrates sustainable building techniques and materials in action. The Fold is run as a not for profit community enterprise mixing elements of inspiration, creativity and healing to provide a space away from the commercial norm where members of the public can take time to become who they truly are.
At the heart of The Fold is the ecoCafe, a place to meet in a welcoming atmosphere and eat quality food which you can see prepared in an open-style kitchen. The food is local, seasonal, fair-trade and organic wherever possible. In the cafe there are quiet corners to meet with friends or more communal spaces where you may find yourself involved in a conversation about how to use less electricity or the best way to travel without costing the earth. There are also books, products and information supporting sustainable living.
You may also visit WholeHealth, where you can choose to take a positive step towards being healthier and happier in every day life. WholeHealth aims to create a centre of excellence for complimentary therapies, working towards integration with the NHS. It has three treatment rooms and a larger space used as a welcoming area and in the evening and at weekends it is used for courses which help us to feel good about ourselves and lead a happy life.
There is also a range of designers and makers working, demonstrating, exhibiting and selling their creations. We currently have metalworker and jeweller Sharon McSwiney, fabric printer Sarah Roberts, Jeremy Cornwell and his team operating from Foal Yard Gallery and furniture workshop, Glacier Emma Dicks, precious metal jeweller Shivani Patel, Batik artists Sarah & Marie-Therese of EekBatik and oil painter Rachael Griffiths.
