The Carpetbagger Aviation Museum was formed in 1993 for the 50th Anniversary reunion of the USAAF's 801st / 492nd Bomb Group (The Carpetbaggers) at Harrington.

The museum is set up in the administration buildings of an old wartime airfield, used by the 8th American Air Force for secret operations during World War II, with extensive records of the hitherto secret missions available on site for students of covert warfare operations. Other exhibits and displays include British special operations executive RAF base Tempsford, the Cold War roles of the airfield at Harrington Thor Rockets and the Royal Observer Corps.
