Meetings can be held in the Main Hall, Drawing Room and Dining Room. Larger conferences and corporate events are also held in the permanent marquee in the garden. Our private drive gives direct access to and from the A12 – just 30 minutes north of Ipswich, and 40 minutes south of Lowestoft. What could be a more beautiful or elegant wedding venue than Glemham Hall? This impressive red brick Elizabethan mansion is steeped in history and is the perfect setting for a traditional English country-style wedding. Glemham Hall was built circa 1560 by the de Glemham family, who took their name from nearby Great (Magna) and Little (Parva) Glemham. After a varied history, the Cobbold brewing family purchased the house in 1923; it became the home of Captain John Murray Cobbold - founder and first chairman of Ipswich Town Football Club as a professional club – and his wife Lady Blanche, a daughter of the 9th Duke of Devonshire. Holding a wedding at Glemham Hall turns a special day into a truly memorable occasion. In addition to the charming walled rose garden, there is a summerhouse, a lily pond and classical urns. The gardens display traditional English symmetry, while classic yew hedges frame the wide lawns and garden. The Hall is licensed for civil weddings and can cater for up to 100 guests. Set in 300 acres of parkland, Glemham Hall is also an ideal venue for a marquee wedding reception; a marquee capable of seating up to 200 guests is permanently set up in the picturesque gardens, from where many of the original Elizabethan aspects of the Hall can still be seen. (Price on application, depending on requirements).
Field sports have always been a high priority on the estate, and the development of the shoot is ongoing. We can offer top quality shooting on a traditional 3000-acre Suffolk estate, coupled with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Presentation of sporting birds is the number one concern; this is achieved by strategically-sited game cover and the sympathetic management of woodlands and surrounding farmland. Glemham is a friendly shoot to attend, and the keepers, picker-ups and beaters are a jovial bunch.
