Pewsey Wharf

Located in Pewsey, Wiltshire The Pewsey Wharf Boat Club was started in 1972 when the Kennet and Avon Canal was partially derelict. A group of enthusiasts got together and formed the club with the aim of both enjoying themselves and to improve the channel in the area by clearing the weed. They were also instrumental in saving Pewsey Wharf from private development, fighting to keep it as a public amenity.

The 2002 completion of the £25 million lottery project to save the canal has ensured that the canal is now in better shape then when first cut in the late 18th and early 19th century.

The club is now managed and run by a committee, whose officers are elected at each Annual General Meeting.

Social Events
We hold a number of social events throughout the year, including social weekends with BBQs, cruises, joint activities with other clubs, and indoor events such as skittles and photographic competitions. A New Year Dinner is held in early January.

Joining
It is not necessary to have a boat moored locally to share in our social events, or even to have a boat at all! We are always happy to welcome new members. Please contact the Membership Secretary for further information and an application form
