Creechbarn is an old converted Somerset Longbarn and was one of the barns belonging to the manor next door, which is recorded in the Doomsday Book. Somerset Longbarns were once a feature in this part of the world, but now there are very few left. We converted ours in 1989 and have retained all the essential features. The barn has wonderful open views over the Sedgemor and is quiet and peaceful, yet it is only 5 minutes' drive from jct 25 on the M5 and 10 minutes' drive from the Main Line railway station. You can reach us in 3 hours from London using either the M4/M5 or the much nicer A303/A358.
It has 3 double bedrooms and a large studio sitting room with a table tennis table, TV and library for guests. The rooms are very comfortably furnished to a high standard. We have no officious rules and we serve real free-range eggs for our breakfasts. There is plenty of parking and a large garden which children and adults enjoy.
We are 400 yards from the Taunton-Bridgwater canal which is part of the National cycle route and there are lovely walks across the moors on our doorstep. Exmoor, the Quantocks and the Blackdown hills are a short drive away and both north and south coasts can be reached by car within 35 minutes. Bath is about 1 hour away, and Wells is about 35 minutes.
There is plenty to do in Somerset. It has not yet been ruined by an over-developed tourist industry, and you can find your own way around discovering beautiful gardens, houses and real open countryside in peace and quiet. Families, couples, single and business people enjoy coming here and they continue to return.
We have been awarded a 4 star grading by the AA and we are also listed in Which? and 'Off the Beaten Track'. We offer a change to the normal, corporate hotel- a home from home. Our prices reduce for stays of 2 days or more and are less in the winter. We charge less for single occupancy and for children under 12. Babies are free.
