Pomegranate Theatre

Chesterfield's theatre opened in 1949 in the Stephenson Memorial Hall which was built in 1879 to commemorate George Stephenson, who moved to Chesterfield in 1848. Originally called the Civic Theatre its name was changed to the Pomegranate in 1982. At full capacity the theatre can seat more than 500 people.

The Theatre hosts professional companies as well as amateur performances from local societies such as Chesterfield Operatic.

The Box Office is open Monday to Saturday, 10 am till curtain up, 7 pm for advance bookings.

Concessionary eligibility includes:-
Children under 16 years
Job Seekers Allowance
Pensioners and retired over 60 years
Full-time students
In receipt of Council Tax or Housing Benefit Rebate
(Disabled individuals are not neccessarily entitled to a concession as a result of their disability - as individuals may be in full employment, and therefore not considered to have an inability to pay. In such circumstances, if a disabled user requires concessionary use, they must either qualify under any of the other concessionary categories or explain in writing (for consideration) the reason why their preferred part of the service is not accessible to them as a direct result of their disability.
