Take a walk down Black Bear Park and step back in time.
As you see it now it is a valuable nature park linking up with local rights of way and the countryside beyond, but it has not always looked like this. It was once part of an 8 mile canal built in 1804 between latchford and Runcorn to avoid the awkward tidal stretch of the River Mersey between Runcorn and Warrington.
Today Black Bear Park is an ideal starting point for exploring the Trans Pennine Trail and the Mersey Way. The Trans Pennine Trail joins the park near to Stockton heath swing bridge, while the Mersey Way meets the park at Kingsway Bridge.
