Steam and Diesel Railway Centre formed in 1994 to preserve the original Southern Railway turntable and provide other facilities for operation of the main line steam. Now well established with modern engine / engineering shed.

Visitors can watch steam at close quarters. Charity also owns "Pectin", a Peckett steam engine which is used on train days to provide public brake van rides.

An 1864 built transfer shed now acts as a visitor centre.

Special events and driver experience courses also feature.

Main line steam engines visit for servicing when visitors can view the turning of the locomotives from a viewing area.

Please see website for details of all events.
