The Mary Rose sank during an engagement with a French invasion fleet, in full view of the King, the screams of the men onboard, ringing in his ears.
The rediscovery of the Mary Rose during the 1970s and her raising in 1982 were seminal events in the history of nautical archaeology, watched by a worldwide audience of over 60 million people and remembered by a generation.
The hull of the Mary Rose is currently undergoing an active conservation process to preserve her for all time. Thousands of personal, domestic and military objects were recovered, many of which are on display in the Mary Rose Museum, a truly unique and fascinating insight into Tudor times.
There will be a Henry VIII travelling exhibition taking place between 12 December 2009 - 17 January 2010 in the Mary Rose Museum.
The Mary Rose Ship has now been withdrawn from public view, as construction starts on a new £35 million museum to house the ship from 2012. Don't worry though; during the construction you can still enjoy a fascinating visit to the current Mary Rose Museum where the ship will be interpreted in new and innovative ways.
All inclusive 6 for 1 tickets are for one entry to HMS Victory, Mary Rose Museum, Harbour Tour and unlimited entry for one year to HMS Warrior 1860, Royal Naval Museum and Action Stations.
Please note that Historic Dockyard tickets may not be valid for special events such as the Victorian Festival of Christmas, please check before you visit.
