A popular unspoilt spot ideal for picnicking and relaxation just a short walk from the city centre. Darley Park houses the stunning National Collection of Viburnum and Hydrangea as well as a delightful butterfly garden.

A popular unspoilt spot ideal for picnicking and relaxation just a short walk from the city centre. Darley Park houses the stunning National Collection of Viburnum and Hydrangea as well as a delightful butterfly garden. The national collection comprises of 110 varieties of Hydrangea. The collection was started here in 1984, to help save plants that were in danger of extinction. A donation of 140 new cultivars has recently been received from Tressilick gardens in Cornwall. The majority of the plants are cultivated in the glasshouse at Markeaton Park and are then moved to the collection at Darley Park once they have matured.
