The beautiful Cathedral Church of St Marin's offers a warm welcome and a sanctuary for visitors of all faiths and none. A little of the original 1086 Norman church remains visible but the majority is a Victorian restoration, which began in 1860 and included the addition of a 220 feet spire. It is an intimate space where people feel at home and at peace. Listen to the meticulously restored Harrison organ with many of the original Snetzler pipes remaining from 1774. Learn about the Leicester Tigers connection and the memorial to Richard III. The cathedral is well known for its bell ringing. There have been bells here since the reign of Henry VIII. The full set of 12 was installed in 1937. Soon after, the Cathedral Bell Ringers became the leading Sunday Service band in the country! The surrounding churchyard has been landscaped, seats have been placed around the fountain and church garden.

The Cathedral Centre is the Georgian property adjacent to the Cathedral on Peacock Lane, with a conference room and kithen the centre has become a meeting place for Church and society, commerce, instituitions, professions and community groups.

The Visitor Centre for the cathedral, is a new project, the centre is opposite the West Cathedral door and is adjacent to the Guildhall. It is hoped that the centre will become a "theatre of promotion and presentation" for tourists, pilgrims and interest groups. It is planned that the new Centre will help to greatly improve the Cathedral's work with children and the linked facilities will include interactive video presentations and CD-ROM programs. The building is accessible to the disabled and those in wheelchairs.

The building has a shop linked with the Guildhall, a refectory and has a meeting place/reception area for up to 100 people.

School and group visits by prior arrangement. Guided tours of the Cathedral by prior arrangement.
