Visitors to historic Lincoln can now enjoy a fabulous new, free to enter, Museum, embracing the region's premier art gallery, the Usher. The buildings sit side by side in the centre of the city close to Steep Hill and enjoy spectacular views of Lincoln Cathedral.
Highlights include a Roman mosiac found during the building of the museum, one of the earliest Bronze Age gold bracelets found in Europe and a wealth of Iron Age finds from Fiskerton including votive offerings of weapons and tools and a seven metre long log-boat.
The Art Collection includes a wide range of Fine and Decorative Art including paintings by DeWint, Turner, Piper and Lowry, along with work by contemporary artists such as 2004 Turner Prize winner Grayson Perry and Terry Frost. The Collection also has a vibrant temporary exhibition programme.
Opening Times - 10am to 4pm every day (Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day).
Entrance is FREE to all. (Please note that there may be a charge to enter the temporary exhibition).
