Blue Box Sailing

Blue Box Sailing offer you the chance to crew an Ocean Race Yacht, on a unique and exciting day out from Ocean Village in Southampton. With a real hands-on focus you will have the opportunity to try all aspects of sailing one of our famous 60ft Around the World Ocean Race Yachts.

Suitable for newcomers to the sport and more experienced sailors you can experience the thrill of sailing, in a safe, relaxed environment, whilst really getting involved in the crewing of the yacht. You will have the opportunity to take the wheel of the 60ft yacht as she powers through the Solent and feel the buzz of working on the front of the boat whilst she crashes through the waves.

After meeting our crew in the morning you will be shown to your yacht where you will receive a short safety brief before we slip lines and motor out into open water. Then it’s all hands on deck as we hoist the giant sails and set sail towards the Solent. There will be plenty of opportunity to put any existing sailing skills into practice and learn new ones as we put the yacht through its paces.

You will have the opportunity to work on the foredeck for sail hoists, drops and changes and in the cockpit on the winches as we trim sails and put the yacht through some maneuvers. A baguette lunch is served under sail, racing style, before we cruise back to Southampton.
