Christ Church College, Oxford, is one of Oxford’s most famous and historic university colleges, as well as its grandest. If you’re looking for English tradition, heritage and splendid architecture, Christ Church is the place to come.

Christ Church College, founded in 1524, is a mixture of architectural styles but Christopher Wren’s Tom Tower, commissioned in 1682, is the college’s most celebrated feature and an Oxford landmark. The college chapel also serves as Oxford’s cathedral.

Famous students who have studied here include the writers W.H. Auden and Lewis Carroll, the Prime Minister William Gladstone and the comedy writer Richard Curtis.

Christ Church College’s ancient architecture made it an ideal location for several scenes in the Harry Potter films. The 1,000-year-old cloisters feature in the films and the Great Hall was the inspiration for Hogwart’s Hall.

To immerse yourself further in the life of this remarkable institution, book a ‘Behind the Scenes’ tour to see hidden corners of Christ Church such as the private gardens.
