Sunderland Maritime Heritage is a voluntary organisation set up to raise the profile of Sunderland's unique maritime heritage and to rekindle the different types of boat and shipbuilding skills before they disappear altogether.
Come and see boats of various types and sizes being built, repaired or refurbished. Here visitors can see for themselves how wooden craft are constructed, either just looking at craft in different stages of repair, asking our staff about these boats or watching our volunteer boast builders actually working in them.
There is also a library of maritime books and publications that are available for research or just for browsing.
Finally, there are many of the old hand tools used to build ships from modern to ancient and there are models on display too.
