From Thwaite Mills Museum enjoy the tranquil towpath of the Aire & Calder Navigation as it winds south-eastwards away from the city to Mickletown. Take time to discover the museum at Thwaite mills or just watching the boats go by!
This route also links into new off-road routes in the Methley area that are being created, such as the Kippax Linesway and the Fairburn Ings Nature Reserve and Country Park near Mickletown. You can also follow the towpath to the Royal Armouries towards Leeds city centre but there is a short section of road that can be busy and would not be suitable for young children.
Please note that there is currently a set of steps off the bridge just south of Thwaite Mills which requires you to carry your bike down to towpath level.
