Accommodation is of a high standard. Upstairs there is a double bedroom (which can be set up as one super-king size bed or two singles) with a shower room and lavatory. The gallery area between the bedroom and bathroom can accommodate twin beds if required. The property is offically classified as 'single family occupancy'. There is a well-equipped galley kitchen with gas oven and hob, together with a microwave for those "can't be bothered to cook" times. Outside for al fresco eating and for you to enjoy the view, there is a decking area with a table, chairs and barbecue. The Pottery has been renovated to a sound, eco friendly design. The timber, Douglas Fir and French Chestnut, come from sustainable sources, the paints and varnishes are non chemically based and the kitchen work top is made from recycled yoghurt pots! Hot water to The Pottery and main house is provided by solar panels, weather permitting, although there is oil heating as a backup. We do not charge extra for any logs you burn in the wood burning stove. The Pottery has full independant central heating, a wood burning stove, hairdryer, TV, DVD player with integrated CD player, a seperate radio, seasonal solar water heating, barbecue, fresh spring water, secure cycle storage and parking on site. The village pub, serving real ale and good food is half a mile away. Church Stretton town and train station is one and a half miles away, the county town of Shrewsbury, with it's timber-framed buildings, 11 miles. Wenlock Edge and Much Wenlock town is 8 miles and Ludlow, with it's Michelin starred restuarants, 15 miles. The Long Mynd plateau rises to the west of The Pottery and the Lawley and Caer Caradoc hills, across the valley, beautifully reflect the changing light and shades of the day.A deed of sale from 1864 refers to a cottage, outbuilding and cow house on the site: the latter has long gone, but we believe the outhouse was used to stable a horse and trap into the early 20th century. The subsequent history is sparse, but we believe the smallholding was used for egg production during WW2. The Pottery is a homely base to explore the area with a truly beautifill location.Children are very welcome (we are happy to provide a cot, high chair and stair gates if you need them) but sorry, no smoking and no pets.We look forward to welcoming you!
