A fantastic new Explore, Discover and Learn Trail has now opened from April until the end of October. Studfold is in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Upper Nidderdale. The trail has been designed with primary school aged children in mind. It encourages children to be aware of their natural surroundings in an innovative and exciting way.

Three characters have been developed Mole, Rabbit and Owl. Rabbit is the explorer who you follow round the trail, find clues and secret boxes. Mole is the discoverer and is always around when there is something to discover. Owl is the learner and will help you to learn all about nature and the fascinating countryside that surrounds you.

At the start of the trail in the farm shop/reception you are given a clue/trail sheet which lists instructions and a map and gives you clues to the first secret box. On the way to the first secret box you follow giant footprints, discover a bird hide and explore a wild flower meadow which includes one of many information points. Continuing still further you pass a huge hedgehog!

Along into the wood you reach the giant stone story telling chair where your imagination can run riot! Down to the fairy ring to make a wish and to the second secret box where you can only take something out if you leave some treasure from home! As you walk up out of the wood you will need to feed the squirrel with pine cones! Finally the barn and picnic/play area. The barn has been interpreted to show the old Victorian farming methods - it includes discovery labels a listening post and 'Stanley' our old grey fergie to name but a few.

The play area is every child's dream - adventure trail play equipment, sand pits and ride on tractors and diggers.Do not forget to bring a picnic with you ( there is free delivery to the picnic area on the trail) and a pencil - but most importantly a small item of unwanted treasure from home for the last secret box!

Why not stay in the area in our 4* rated caravan and camping park. Enquiries and booking forms via the website www.studfoldfarm.co.uk
