The Town House Museum displays the social history and domestic life of Lynn’s merchants, traders and families from Medieval times to the 1950s. In the Medieval room you can try your hand at brass rubbing.

In the 17th century room is a reconstructed fireplace with objects showing what life was like for those living through the siege of Lynn during the English Civil War.
a 1950s roomA Victorian child’s nursery contains a doll’s house and period toys. Children can try out the replica toys and games or see what life was like below stairs in the Victorian Kitchen. The room is full of everyday items used by the servants and cook. Outside is the beautiful Victorian town garden complete with privy.
School life in Edwardian times is displayed and you can sit at an old wooden school desk and use a pupil’s slate.
There is a reminder of the difficult times endured through the World Wars by the people of Lynn in the display of home life during the World Wars. The realities of war were keenly felt by the people of Lynn, as it was one of the first British towns to suffer a Zeppelin air raid.
Finally you can relax in an armchair and watch a 1950s television showing period footage of Lynn in the last setting of a fifties living room.
