Let New Manchester Walks guide you around the many Manchester sites central to the story of how Britain became an industrial powerhouse. Manchester is where the world’s greatest machines and engines whirred into action. A short walk from the city centre stands Britain’s first canal, built to bring coal to the country’s first modern-styled factories, and the world’s first passenger railway station, now part of the sprawling Museum of Science and Industry.
Walks take place on 9th November 2009, 30th November 2009, 21st December 2009, 18th January 2010, 30th January 2010, 8th February 2010. Meet at 10:30am at Manchester Visitor Information Centre. £5 per person.
