Housesteads Roman Fort is situated halfway along Hadrian’s Wall and boasts spectacular views of the rolling hills that line the Roman Frontier. Once the base of an extensive civil settlement, it is the most complete Roman fort in Britain. The magnificent ruins include granaries, barracks, a hospital and a multi-seated latrine. The on-site museum reveals how Housesteads once looked and displays the history of this fascinating fort.
