Former railway line open to walkers and for much of its length to cyclists and horse riders. Excellent views of the South Tyne Valley. The trail includes the spectacular Lambley Viaduct. Interpretation displays near Coanwood, benches, self-guided trail and disabled access to viaduct. Information boards on site and leaflets available from the local tourist information centres. Trail shared with South Tynedale Railway between Kirkhaugh and Alston. Extended to source of South Tyne river for walkers in 2003.
