Melford Hall, a romantic turreted brick Tudor mansion, has been the home of the Hyde Parker Family since 1786. There are Regency, Georgian and Victorian interiors, collections of fine porcelain, furniture and Naval artefacts, all charting the tastes and adventures of the Hyde Parker family. Beatrix Potter was related to the Hyde Parker family and visited often; a collection of memorabilia, including the original Jemima Puddle-duck toy is on display. Queen Elizabeth I was entertained at Melford Hall in 1578. There is a pleasant Edwardian-style garden and a 1 mile circular walk in the remains of the ancient deer park. There is also a rare seventeenth century panelled banqueting house.
