The Royal Cornwall Museum opened in 1818 and moved to its present building in 1919. Over the years it has acquired a wide and varied collection encompassing all aspects of Cornwall's history, culture and environment both ancient and modern, together with items from all over the world.

John Peck: 19th September - 31st October 2009

Photography exhibition focusing on Wheal Jane and South Crofty tin mines from the 1970s and 1980s as the industry went into decline.


Utmost Fidelity - the Painting Life of Adrian Stokes: 19th September - 21 November 2009

An exhibitions of works by the internationally aclaimed landscape painter and Royal Academician who lived and painted in St. Ives between 1886-1899. This exhibition is a joint retrospective with Penlee House where the works of Marianne Stokes (Adrian's wife) are on display.


Romi Behrens: 3rd October - 30th January 2010

A celebration of Romi's 50th Anniversary as an artist of West Cornwall. This retrospective of her work demonstrates the lightness of touch and subtle humour for which she is known.

Please note the museum will be closed throughout December for essential collections work.
