Situated high on the eastern slopes of the Malvern Hills lies The Cottage in the Wood.

Clustered close together on the side of the hill, the three buildings of the hotel have been sympathetically rebuilt or extended to retain all their original character whilst offering spacious & comfortable accommodation.

You will be made to feel at home as soon as you step across the threshold of the main building, a fine Georgian Dower House once part of the Blackmore Park seat of Thomas Hornyold.

The bar and lounge area, with ample comfortable seating and lit in winter by a flickering log fire, is well stocked with a selection of beers and spirits.

Beyond is the piece de resistance, a spacious and elegant recently enlarged restaurant, where the delicious views through the tall windows are equalled only by the lofty reputation enjoyed by the cooking of the chef brigade, headed by another member of the Pattin family, Dominic.

It style, as feted by many guide books and recognised by the award of excellent ratings, is essentially English but influenced by flavours from around the world.

It is complemented by an extensive wine cellar where, among the more familiar labels, adventurous palates will discover vintages from distance corners of the new and old worlds on a list, which has won the Johnasens Wine List of the Year and has been a regular finalist in the AA Wine List contest.

The bedrooms in the main building, whilst not large, are individually designed with a country feel. There's a four-poster bed if you're feeling indulgent and all those at the front will give you a perfect view of the sun rising over Bredon Hill across the valley.

A little further on lies a delightful surprise. The newly completed Pinnacles has nineteen luxurious bedrooms, furnished in keeping with the rest of the hotel, with antique furniture, sumptuous drapes and fabulous beds.

All the hotel's rooms have a bath or bath and shower, with generous bottles of shampoo and bubbles and many little thoughtful touches like a choice of teas, coffee and mineral water, home-made biscuits. Rooms with a view are even supplied with binoculars to help you appreciate it more fully.

You can walk straight out from the hotel grounds up onto the breezy tops of the Malvern's. You are also in easy reach of many other attractions from the Welsh Marches and the three cathedral cities, the Three Counties Showground, unspoilt Herefordshire and onto the Cotswolds and Shakespeare's country.
