The Devonshire is situated on the 30,000 acre Bolton Abbey estate, the Yorkshire home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The Duchess of Devonshire is responsible for the furnishing and interior decoration and the hotel is home to many fine antiques and paintings from Chatsworth, her home in Derbyshire.

The hotel has a unique atmosphere. It is a luxurious country house hotel but completely unpretentious and guests feel immediately relaxed and at home. The Devonshire is all about food, wine, comfort and service with a choice of restaurants and an outstanding collection of rare and fine wines. The Devonshire Club, opposite the hotel in a converted 17th century barn, offers a haven of relaxation and rejuvenation.

The outlook from the hotel is simply wonderful - uninterrupted views across the river Wharfe and towards the rolling Yorkshire Dales. It is a walker's paradise with 80 miles of footpaths on the estate and a choice of both gentle meanders alongside the river admiring the ruins of the 12th century Augustinian priory and the flora and fauna or more challenging hill walks to reach awe inspiring vistas which stretch for miles.

Yet all this peace and tranquillity is within easy reach of all the main motorway networks, mainline stations and airports. It is an ideal base for sight seeing and visiting the many historic houses and places of interest in Yorkshire and the North of England.
